if pt. schedules an appt. for yeast infection, but by the time she gets the appt. the infection is gone, would you still code the infection if she has no symptoms?

Codes must be sequenced correctly on and the severity of disease can be understood.

Where are you coding?

If you coded correctly, then you can try an appeal letter on patient's behalf. Write explaining that patient had symptoms but at the time of visit the symptoms were no longer present. If insurance still denies, then the fee for service falls to patient responsibility.

I learned that this might about if the doctor is participating or a none participating. I didnt know that the V Code was ok for her particular situation because V codes sound like more like a fit for hospital billing. If the doctor is non participating he can bill for the write off (well thats what that reminded me of) and if the doctor participating the insurance, you know. Good Luck. New Member.
