Patient had revision of bipolar stem following open treatment of femoral neck fracture with prosthetic replacement.  What CPT code would you use for the revision??  Thanks

Hey Betty,

Take a look at 27236 & see if that fits.

"Open treatment of femoral fracture, proximal end, neck, internal fixation or prosthetic replacement .

Would that go for revision.  I had charged out 27236 originally.

You can use the 27236 for revision as code descriptor indicates: "Open treatment of femoral neck fracture, proximal end, neck, internal fixation or prosthetic replacement".  If it's the same surgeon who did the original procedure, you may want to add a 76 modifier. Diagnosis code  996.4_ if new traumal.
