Most agencies that hire for coders who would go to a site and check coding,  fill in for a coder, or have you code from your home location by computer require a Certified coder. That's because the company that hires you will usually cover your malpractice insurance, etc. (You are aware that as a Coder submitting claims for reimbursement you can be held personally liable for what you code?)  I think that there are more opportunities for Coders from the physician side when it somes to limited time employment. Hospitals have strict JACHO rules/guidelines to follow. Physician offices are not goverend as closely, yet.    Report

Its amazing to know everyone's interests / views / suggestions / advice and above all the time BARB has given. Hats off. Many a times I use to feel who would this person be and what she does, how come so much of knowledge. With her reply, now its clear. Hope she spends more time and gives importance to explore much and read / get updated with latest updates. The best part is the mind to share it with others. Jane is in need of some help. don't know if you live close enoughto get together and  to help her. I have offered to at least connect with her by phone but I live in NH. I can only connect with her face to face..... she states she doesn't understand coding.    Report
