. A pediatric patient was admitted yesterday afternoon to CHAMS--where they put him in the PICU because there were no regular beds. The physician went to see him today, discussed management (and discharge) with the peds resident & arranged for F/U, but didn't leave a note as he wasn't the PICU attending of record & figured he couldn't bill. Was it a billable visit?
2. The hospital is in overflow. A patient the physician agreed to admit from the ER early this morning was still in the ER when he made rounds. He did a full evaluation, wrote a note & decided to send the patient home. The patient was never assigned a room. Can the physician bill for seeing the patient in the ER? (the physician have one of patient's ER stickers.)
